Two new SIP Firmware releases for the 9600 IP Telephones are now available!


R2.2 is Generally Available (GA). This release is aimed at customers who use phone applications or need to customize the phone screen. It includes support for the Avaya Push API and introduces Avaya SIP Phone XML to simplify the creation of customized screens.

R2.4 just entered Controlled Introduction (CI). It is part of the Survivable Intelligent Edge solution. It allows a phone to operate with SES and CM under normal conditions and leverage a third-party SIP gateway/proxy when the Avaya servers are unreachable. R2.4 also includes support for button modules and several other feature enhancements. R2.4 is expected to be generally available for download by May 4, 2009.

R2.2 and R2.4 both include support for Arabic and Hebrew text display and, for the first time on any Avaya phone, support for Hebrew and Korean text entry. The contents of R2.2 and R2.4 will be brought together into a single release late this year.
